Yorkton, Saskatchewan Canada- ideal location for a crush plant/refinery
The plant is located in the heart of the canola growing region in Eastern Saskatchewan. The majority of the canola procured will be directly from the producer trucked to the facility.
The site is served by both Canadian railways (CN & CP) and can service export demand through Vancouver and all U.S. domestic demand.
Time to build in YORKTON SASK.!
On September 7, 2006 Louis Dreyfus announced their plans to build a 2500 mt per day canola crush facility in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The facility will produce roughly 500,000 mt of meal and 350,000 mt of canola oil per year. Yorkton was selected for many reasons:
Quality canola production centre
Major transportation corridor – both rail and highway
Good water availability and accessibility
Strong business relationships with corporate, political and community leaders
Access to quality workforce
Opportunity to further enhance business operations in Western Canada.
The Yorkton facility will be complimentary to our asset base in the United States and will benefit through synergies in capital procurement and rail fleet management and utilization. The Yorkton plant will also allow Louis Dreyfus to diversify crushing operations in its North American and Global portfolio.

The Crush plant will provide 55 new jobs for the community
The construction of the plant will also create jobs during the two year build phase, and will provide 300-400 thousand man hours of work.
Increased demand for Saskatchewan’s raw resources of Canola seed, gas, and power will lead to economic growth
Producers will receive greater returns per acre from increased competition.
Producers will also benefit from off grades as they will hold higher values to the crusher than to the seed export market.
The plant will have crushing capacity of 2500 mt per day or 850,000 mt per year. This equates to about 10% of Western Canadian Production.
This Yorkton crush facility will be a strong compliment to our Canadian and Global presence
